1. 表示時間，註意以下用法：
① 表示時間的某壹點、某壹時刻或年齡等用 at：
I get up at six in the morning. 我早上六點鐘起床。
He got married at the age of 25. 他 25 歲結婚。
② 泛指壹般意義的上午、下午或晚上以及月或年等較長的時間，壹般用 in：
We watch TV in the evening. 我們晚上看電視。
He went to Japan in 1946. 他於 1946 去了日本。
③ 若表示星期幾或某壹特定的日期，則用 on：
He left here on the fifth of May. 他於 5 月 5 日離開這兒。
We have English class on Monday. 我們在周五有英語課
2. 表示地點、場所、位置等，註意以下用法：
① 表示某壹點位置，用 at：
We live at No 87 Beijing Road. 我們住在北京路 87 號。
The hospital is at the end of the street.這條街的盡頭是醫院。
與名詞所有格連用表示地點，也用 at。如：
at my sister’s 在我姐姐家
at the doctor’s 在醫生處（醫務室）
② 表示空間或範圍，用 in：
What’s in the box? 這盒子裏有什麽?
He lives in Paris with his wife. 他同他妻子住在巴黎。
但有時兩者可換用：
The meeting was held at [in] the hotel. 會議在賓館舉行。
③ at與in的另壹個區別是：at多用於指較小的地方，而in多用於指較大的地方：
in Shanghai 在上海 at the station 在車站
④ 介詞 on 用於地點，主要指在某物的表面：
What’s on the table? 桌上有什麽?
There’s a wallet lying on the ground. 地上有個錢包。
註在少數搭配中，也用介詞 on：
He works on a farm. 他在農場工作。
3. 在某些搭配中，三者的區別與英國英語和美國英語有關：
in the street (英) / on the street (美) 在街上
in the road (英) / on the road (美) 在路上
in the team (英) / on the team (美) 在這個隊
at the weekend (英) / on the weekend (美) 在周末
at weekends (英) / on weekends (美) 在周末
4. 有時三者的差別與搭配習慣和用法有關：
