史泰龍的父親弗蘭克.史泰龍是發型師，母親傑奎琳.史泰龍是合唱團歌手。他童年時被寄養在別人家裏，寂寞的日子裏他靠看漫畫書來打發時間，為了 模仿書中的英雄，淘氣的他***斷掉過十壹根骨頭。他曾有先後被十四所學校開除的記錄，最終他選擇了瑞士的美國學院，學習表演。他在學生創作的《推銷員之死》 中的表演大獲好評，這使他意識到表演是他壹生的追求。

正在他尋找寫劇本的工作時，史泰龍碰巧看了壹場拳王阿裏和壹個小拳手的比賽。小拳手居然與阿裏苦鬥了15個回合。這給了史泰龍靈感，他用三天就 完成了拳手洛基的傳奇故事。由於他堅持由自己扮演洛基，讓許多制作人望而卻步。終於找到投資之後，《洛基》僅用了壹個月就完成了。這匹1976年的黑馬壹 舉賺得兩億兩千五百萬美元，並贏得了當年的奧斯卡最佳影片和最佳導演獎。史泰龍本人也獲得最佳男主角和劇本的提名。

席爾維斯史泰龍( Sylvester Enzio Stallone), 1946年6月6日出生於美國紐約，小時候的史泰龍在同學眼中可壹點都沒把他和動作片巨星連在壹起，同學還覺得他是「最有可能在電椅上結束生命的人」，想想史泰龍日後的成就也算是揚眉吐氣了，當然，初入電影圈的史泰龍，免不了僅能接觸壹些跑龍套的小角色，終於在演出自己編寫的劇本洛基後，小媳婦出頭天，而後的反暴特勤組及Victory雖然票房不如預期，但第壹滴血藍波壹角將史泰龍再往上推壹層，觀眾愛死了這個話不多、堅毅不屈、怎麽折磨都不死的John Rambo。
史泰龍在螢幕上的表現為他獲得不少掌聲，曾被選為全球100大電影明星及列名於最頂尖的20名動作巨星之內的史泰龍並不以此為滿足，他極速競賽中就跳脫動作影片的制式框架，從題材的選擇到角色的詮釋，都可以看出史泰龍的用心，尤其是在片中談到關於「人生的第二個機會」這個概念，就某種程度而言就如同在形容史泰龍的演藝之路壹樣，心理歷程的轉折相當清晰。
相信很多人都是從洛基開始認識席維斯史泰龍，也因為洛基這部影片滌訕史泰龍在好萊塢武打動作巨星的地位；雖然史泰龍以在好萊塢片酬排行榜中算是頂尖級的男演員，不過史泰龍更想突破的是爭取更寬廣的表演空間，尤其是他積極的想爭取喜劇及劇情類影片的演出，但觀眾及片商仍看好他矯健的身手，如極速競賽史泰龍仍有精采及高難度的動作表現。
