定冠詞的用法：
1.特指某(些)人或某(些)物，這是定冠詞的基本用法。
Beijing is the capital of China. 北京是中國的首都。
2.指談話雙方都知道的人或事物。
Open the window please. 請把窗戶打開。(雙方都知道指的是哪壹扇窗戶)
3.指上文已經提到的人或事物。
There was a chair by the window. On the chair sat a young woman with a baby in her arms.
窗戶附近有壹把椅子。椅子上坐著壹位年輕婦女，懷裏抱著壹個嬰兒。
4.指世界上獨壹無二的事物。
Which is the biggest, the sun, the earth or the moon? 太陽、地球和月亮哪壹個最大？
5.用在序數詞、形容詞最高級前。
The first truck is carrying a few baskets. 第壹輛卡車裝運壹些筐。
Huanghe is the second longest river in China.
6.用在由普通名詞構成的專有名詞前。
the Great wall長城，the Summer Palace頤和園，
the People’s Farm人民農場，the Science Museum科學館
7.用在某些形容詞前，即the+adj.表示某壹類人。
the rich富人 the poor窮人 the sick病人 the old老人，
the young年輕人 the blind盲人 the dead死人
8.用在姓氏復數形式前，表示“全家人”或“夫婦倆”。
The Turners are going home on a train. 特納夫婦在回家的火車上。
9.用在方位詞前。

at the back/front of在……的後/前面
10.用在樂器名稱前。

11.用在表示海洋、河流、山脈、群島及國家和黨派名詞前。

不定冠詞有"a和an"兩種形式。"a"用在以輔音開頭的詞前，"an"用在以元音
開頭的詞前。判斷壹個詞是以元音開頭還是以輔音開頭，是根據音標而不是
根據元音字母a,e,i,o,u。
a的用法：
1. 用於可數名詞的單數形式前，表示"壹"
There is a tiger in the zoo.
動物園裏有壹只老虎。
2. 表示壹類人和東西
A tiger can be dangerous.
老虎可能有危害性。
3. 表示"某壹個"的意思
A gentleman wants to see you.
有壹位先生要見妳。
4. 表示"同壹"的意思
They are nearly of an age.
他們幾乎同歲。
The two shirts are much of a size.
這兩件襯衫大小差不多。
5. 表示"每壹"的意思
We go swimming four times a week.
我們每周去遊泳四次。
6. 用在作表語的單數可數名詞前，表示身份、職業
My mother is a teacher.

7. 第壹次提到的人或事物，但不特別指明是哪壹個
Long long ago there was an old king who had a very beautiful daughter.
很久很久以前，有壹個年老的國王，他有壹個非常美麗的女兒。
8. 在英國英語中，以"h"開頭的多音節詞，如第壹個音節不重讀，其前亦可用"an"
